I was recently back over the Pennines again, this time to capture Sophie and Ashley’s wedding: a real DIY affair, with family and friends having a hand in everything from the cake to the dress, which was made by Sophie’s mum. And it was especially lovely to hear that my own grandma (who was Sophie’s gran’s sister) taught Margaret to sew. Sadly it’s not a talent I’ve inherited. At all.
Make-up artist Elle Knowles was busy all morning making up Sophie and her five bridesmaids. It seems a bit obvious to say Sophie looked gorgeous – just look at her! I don’t think Elle has a website but have a look at her Facebook page – I had a nosey this morning and saw some wonderful rainbow eyes. Also, the girls at Mirror Mirror in Milnthorpe did a great job on everyone’s hair.
Both the ceremony and wedding breakfast were held at Leighton Hall, an impressive stately home in Carnforth which, despite its size and grandeur, was actually really homely. I’m going to return and have a proper look round when I’m not working.
Karen Rhodes Catering ensured everyone (including me) was fed and watered throughout the day and night. Thank you Charlotte, the food was spot on. The huge LOVE and DANCE were provided by Typical Type near Lancaster. Megan and Darren supply all sorts of cool lighting; if you’ve got a big party coming up and fancy something a bit different, check them out. If I’ve missed someone out, please let me know.
Thank you Sophie and Ashley for making my job so easy (even smiling through that wind at Arnside!). And, not forgetting your gorgeous girls, Olivia and Sophia, who were a credit to you.
Here are a few more from the day. Enjoy!
